Assistant Campground Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Campground Manager, the Assistant Campground Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the campground while helping coordinate guest services, office administration, staff scheduling, and operational activities. The Assistant Campground Manager plays a key role in ensuring visitors receive excellent service, staff are supported, and campground operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Assistant Campground Manager acts as a lead resource for front-line staff and assists with operational decision-making in the Manager’s absence.

What you will do

As the Campground Manager, you will contribute to the Nation’s work through the following areas of responsibility:

Operational Coordination

  • Support the daily operations of the campground office and guest services functions.

  • Assist with implementing campground policies, procedures, and operational standards.

  • Coordinate daily activities and provide support during busy operational periods.

  • Monitor campground occupancy, reservations, guest services, and site availability.

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures and daily operational oversight.

Staff Support & Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to office attendants and seasonal staff.

  • Assist with staff scheduling, shift coverage, and task assignments.

  • Help train and onboard new employees.

  • Support the Campground Manager in fostering a positive and respectful workplace culture.

  • Step into a supervisory role when the Campground Manager is unavailable.

Guest Services

  • Ensure visitors receive friendly, professional, and responsive service.

  • Assist with reservations, cancellations, waitlists, and guest inquiries.

  • Resolve guest concerns and escalate issues when necessary.

  • Support customer communications through phone, email, and in-person interactions.

Administrative & Financial Support

  • Maintain accurate records of reservations, payments, and daily transactions.

  • Review daily cash reconciliations and assist with deposits and reporting.

  • Prepare occupancy, revenue, and operational reports.

  • Monitor inventory and coordinate replenishment of supplies.

  • Support recordkeeping, filing, and administrative processes.

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate operational updates between staff and management.

  • Coordinate with maintenance, groundskeeping, security, and contractors as required.

  • Assist with facility inspections and operational follow-up.

  • Uphold cultural protocols and represent the Nation positively in all interactions.

Safety & Facility Support

  • Support emergency response procedures and incident documentation.

  • Assist with monitoring campground conditions, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.

  • Help ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Lived and learned experience we are seeking

To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in campground operations, hospitality, tourism, recreation, customer service, or a related field.

  • Experience providing supervision, team coordination, or lead-hand responsibilities.

  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience using reservation systems, point-of-sale systems, and office software.

  • Cash handling experience and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

  • Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and throughout the camping season.

Certifications & Checks:

  • Valid BC driver’s licence (Class 5; Class 4 preferred) with a clear driver’s abstract.

  • Clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, as required.
