STATUS CARDS

New Status Cards are the secure certificate of Indian Status.

  • Our staff can assist in the application process that gets mailed off for processing

  • Applicant needs two pieces of photo ID (current, not expired)

  • Staff will take a photo for your application

BIRTH REGISTRATION

  • Birth registration needs original birth certificate

  • Applying parents require two pieces of photo ID (current, not expired)

DEATH REPORTING

  • Provide a copy of the death certificate to report to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)

  • ISC will contact the individual listed on the report to deal with the estate, at which point an administrator will be assigned


BAND TRANSFERS

  • When the applicant is from a Section 10 or 11 band, all transfer requests have to go to Chief and Council with a Band Council Resolution submitted for approval

ALIAS ADDITION REPORTING

  • Aliases can now be added onto Status Cards

  • These aliases can be anything, i.e. an Indian name or nickname
