Campground Attendant
Reporting to the Campground Office Supervisor, the Campground Attendant the Campground Attendant provides frontline customer service and supports the daily operations of the Pacheedaht Campground. This role helps ensure a safe, welcoming, and positive visitor experience while upholding the cultural values, environmental stewardship, and hospitality standards of Pacheedaht First Nation.
We are seeking someone who brings a background in community-focused service, a strong connection to the land and respect for Indigenous traditions, and experience in providing welcoming hospitality. The ideal person values environmental stewardship, is committed to supporting the well- being of others, and demonstrates care for the cultural and natural heritage of the Pacheedaht First Nation. Familiarity with campground operations or similar customer service roles is an asset, along with a dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all visitors and community members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Campground Attendant for Pacheedaht First Nation, you will carry out the following tasks.
Customer Service & Guest Experience
Greet guests in a friendly, professional manner and provide check-in/check-out services.
Answer questions about campground facilities, local attractions, cultural sites, and community guidelines.
Support visitors in understanding and respecting cultural protocols and environmental practices.
Campground Operations
Maintain cleanliness and safety of campsites, washrooms, showers, and common areas.
Perform light maintenance duties, including garbage collection, restocking supplies, raking sites, and reporting repair needs.
Monitor campground activity to ensure rules are followed (quiet hours, fire safety, wildlife awareness, etc.).
Assist with booking reservations and handling cash/card transactions (if applicable).
Cultural & Community Stewardship
Share general knowledge of the Nation’s history, lands, and values.
Promote responsible land use, environmental respect, and wildlife safety.
Represent the Pacheedaht First Nation in a respectful manner when interacting with visitors.
Safety & Emergency Response
Follow all health and safety procedures, including fire safety, first aid, and emergency response.
Report incidents, hazards, and maintenance concerns to the manager or supervisor.
Support safe handling of campfires, propane, equipment, and shared facilities
Lived and learned experience we are seeking
To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:Skills grounded in lived experience: Experience in tourism, hospitality, customer service, or maintenance is an asset.
Basic computer skills for booking systems (training provided).
Cultural grounding: Knowledge of Pacheedaht First Nation culture, history and local traditions.
People & relationships: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills; skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution.
Indigenous experience: Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued.
Certifications & Checks:
Valid BC driver’s licence (Class 5; Class 4 preferred) with a clear driver’s abstract preferred.
Clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, as required.
Valid First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one.
Ways of Working: Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physically able to walk, lift moderate weight, and perform outdoor tasks in varying weather.
