Campground Maintenance Worker

Reporting to the Campground Manager, the Campground Maintenance Worker supports the safe, clean, and welcoming operation of the Pacheedaht First Nation campground. This role plays an important hands‐on part in caring for the land, facilities, and shared spaces used by community members and visitors.

We are seeking someone who brings a background in groundskeeping, maintenance, and customer service, and who takes pride in caring for places in a respectful and responsible way. This role works closely with other campground staff to support a positive experience that reflects the values of Pacheedaht First Nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Campground Maintenance Worker for Pacheedaht First Nation, you will carry out the following tasks.

Campgrounds & Facilities Care

• Clean and maintain washrooms, showers, campsites, common areas, and garbage and recycling stations.

• Maintain campground grounds, including mowing, brush clearing, trail upkeep, beach clean‐ups, and removal of invasive plants.

• Complete site‐to‐site clean‐ups to prepare spaces for guests and community use.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Carry out routine maintenance and small repairs such as fixing signage, clearing gutters, replacing lightbulbs, and repairing picnic tables and fire rings.

• Safely use hand tools, power tools, and small equipment (such as weed eaters and leaf blowers).

• Inspect buildings, equipment, and infrastructure and report concerns or safety issues to the Campground Manager.

Guest & Community Support

• Greet and assist guests in a courteous and helpful manner.

• Provide basic directions and information and work with other campground staff to minimize disruption to guest stays.

• Represent Pacheedaht First Nation in a respectful, welcoming, and professional way at all times.

Safety, Teamwork & Stewardship

• Follow safety guidelines, environmental practices, and cultural protection protocols.

• Support emergency response as needed, including weather events or hazard clean‐up.

• Work collaboratively with supervisors, housekeeping, and other campground staff to support a healthy work environment and shared goals.

Lived and learned experience we are seeking
To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:

  • Skills grounded in lived experience: Practical experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, or similar hands‐on work; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Cultural grounding: Knowledge of Pacheedaht First Nation culture, history, and local traditions, or a willingness to learn and work respectfully within the community.

    • Work ethic and reliability: Dependable, safety‐minded, and able to take direction while contributing positively to the work environment.

    • Communication and relationships: Friendly and respectful communication with guests, community members, and co‐workers.

    • The Ways we Work: Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and safely lift up to approximately 23 kg (50 lbs).

    • Certifications & Checks: Valid BC driver’s licence (Class 5 preferred).

    • Ability and willingness to obtain WHMIS and First Aid (or equivalent).

    • Clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, as required.
