Campground Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Band Manager, the Campground Manager provides overall leadership and oversight of campground operations, administration, guest services, staff supervision, financial performance, and facility management. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, welcoming, financially sustainable, and culturally respectful campground experience for visitors while supporting the Nation’s vision, values, and economic development goals.

The Campground Manager leads a diverse team of campground staff, oversees seasonal planning and operations, manages budgets and revenue, supports infrastructure and maintenance planning, and serves as the primary operational contact for campground activities.

What you will do

As the Campground Manager, you will contribute to the Nation’s work through the following areas of responsibility:

Guest Experience & Community Relations

  • Ensure exceptional customer service and positive visitor experiences.

  • Address escalated guest concerns and complex service issues.

  • Promote a welcoming environment that reflects the Nation's culture, values, and hospitality.

  • Build positive relationships with community members, visitors, tourism partners, and contractors.

  • Represent the Nation professionally in all interactions.

Facility, Infrastructure & Safety Oversight

  • Oversee campground infrastructure, maintenance planning, and capital improvement projects.

  • Coordinate repairs, contractor services, and facility upgrades.

  • Ensure safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and incident reporting processes are maintained.

  • Support environmental stewardship and responsible land management practices.

Leadership & Operations Management

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for campground operations.

  • Develop and implement operational plans, procedures, and service standards.

  • Oversee daily campground activities, guest services, office operations, security, maintenance, and site management.

  • Ensure consistent application of campground policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify operational improvements and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and efficiency.

  • Ensure the campground is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and guest readiness.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor campground office, maintenance, guest services, and seasonal staff.

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture.

  • Conduct performance discussions, coaching, and staff development activities.

  • Create seasonal staffing plans and oversee scheduling and workforce allocation.

  • Support employee learning and growth opportunities.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Develop and manage campground operating budgets.

  • Monitor revenue, occupancy rates, expenditures, and financial performance.

  • Review and approve daily cash reconciliations, deposits, and revenue reporting.

  • Prepare operational, financial, and occupancy reports for leadership.

  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and administrative processes.

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Support marketing, business development, and tourism initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to increase occupancy, revenue, and visitor engagement.

  • Participate in long-term campground planning and operational development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Lived and learned experience we are seeking

To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:

  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in campground, hospitality, tourism, recreation, or operational management.

  • Experience leading teams and supervising employees in a customer service environment.

  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and reporting experience.

  • Experience overseeing facilities, operations, and maintenance programs.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience using reservation systems, point-of-sale systems, and operational software.

  • Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and throughout the camping season, as required.

Certifications & Checks:

  • Valid BC driver’s licence (Class 5; Class 4 preferred) with a clear driver’s abstract.

  • Clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, as required.
