Cleaner

About the role

Reporting to the Health Care Building Office Manager, the Cleaner plays an important role in caring for our community by helping to keep their homes clean, safe, and comfortable. This is more than a cleaning role; it is an opportunity to walk alongside our community members with kindness, patience, and respect, and supporting the wellbeing of our community.

What you will do

The duties and responsibilities of the Cleaner include (but are not limited to):

  • Complete general housekeeping in community homes, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.

  • Dust furniture and wipe down surfaces throughout the home.

  • Clean kitchens and bathrooms, including washing dishes and wiping counters.

  • Take out garbage and recycling, keeping spaces tidy and clutter-free.

  • Sanitize high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and railings.

  • Follow health and safety procedures, including infection prevention and control practices.

  • Use cleaning products safely and as directed, with care for those who may have sensitivities or health conditions.

  • Report any safety concerns, hazards, or maintenance issues to your supervisor in a timely way.

  • Communicate clearly, kindly, and patiently, honouring each homeowner’s preferences and routines.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality about anything you see, hear, or learn while in a home.

Lived and learned experience we are seeking

To be the successful candidate for this position, you should have:

  • Comfort and confidence working in private homes, with a respectful, compassionate approach

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage your time across multiple homes and visits

  • Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued

  • An acceptable vulnerable Police Information Check
