ECEA/Responsible Adult

Reporting to the Daycare Manager, the ECEA/RA provides safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for children in the daycare program. This role supports children’s emotional, physical, cognitive, and social development through daily routine, play-based learning, and positive guidance.

The ECEA/RA also helps maintain a clean, organized, and culturally supportive environment while building strong relationships with children, families, and coworkers. The ideal candidate brings a background working with infants, toddlers, or young children in a daycare or similar setting and is passionate about supporting the growth and well-being of young children in a safe, nurturing, and culturally grounded environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the ECEA/RA for Pacheedaht First Nation, you will:

  • Supervise and engage with children in a safe and caring manner.

  • Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.

  • Support children with feeding, hygiene routines, naps, and transitions throughout the day.

  • Implement positive behavior guidance and encourage social skills.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming daycare environment, including daily sanitizing of toys and surfaces.

  • Monitor children for any signs of illness, injury, or developmental concerns and report to supervisors as needed.

  • Build respectful and professional relationships with parents/guardians and provide updates on children’s daily activities.

  • Follow all daycare policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures.

  • Assist with documentation, attendance records, incident reports, and activity planning.

  • Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.

Lived and learned experience we are seeking
To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:

  • Education or equivalent:

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or Assistant certification is an asset (o required, depending on program).

  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children in a daycare or similar setting.

  • Cultural grounding: Knowledge of Pacheedaht First Nation culture, history and local traditions.

  • People & relationships: Excellent communication, patience, teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Indigenous experience: Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, carry, and care for young children in an active environment.


    Certifications & Checks:

  • Current First Aid & CPR Level C certification.

  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (and immunization requirements if applicable).
