Medical Driver

Reporting to the Health Director, the Medical Driver provides safe, respectful transport for community members to and from medical appointments. The role includes scheduled pharmacy pickups and, when authorized, limited elder support for groceries.

The ideal candidate brings a Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence with a clear driver’s abstract, and has the ability to provide confidentiality, cultural safety, and professional conduct at all times to contribute to the health of Pacheedaht First Nation members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As the Medical Driver for Pacheedaht First Nation, you will:

  • Transport Pacheedaht First Nation members to and from medical appointments and health services only in accordance with the schedule.

  • Pick up medications from Pharmasave twice weekly (Tuesdays and Fridays).

  • Provide occasional transport for Elders to grocery shop when pre-approved by the Health Director.

  • Conduct pre-trip safety checks and report maintenance concerns immediately.

  • Maintain accurate mileage and trip logs (date/time, purpose, start/end mileage, signature).

  • Uphold confidentiality, cultural safety, and professional conduct at all times while adhering to the Medical Driver Vehicle Use Policy.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education or equivalent: Experience working in a similar field is considered an asset.

  • Cultural grounding: Knowledge of Pacheedaht First Nation culture, history and local traditions.

  • People & relationships: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills; skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution.

  • Indigenous experience: Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued.

Required Certifications & Checks:

  • Valid BC driver’s licence (Class 5; Class 4 preferred) with a clear driver’s abstract.

  • Clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, as required.
