Social Development Manager

Reporting to the Health Director, the Social Development Manager administers income assistance, employment and training supports, and client case management services for the First Nation. This role promotes self-sufficiency, wellness, and culturally relevant support for individuals and families.

We are seeking someone who brings a background in supporting wellness and self-sufficiency, with respect for Indigenous culture, values, and traditions. They have experience with social programs, client support, and empowering individuals and families in ways that honour our connection to land, language, and community, and uphold the teachings of Pacheedaht First Nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Social Development Manager for Pacheedaht First Nation, you will carry out the following tasks.

Income Assistance & Case Management

• Deliver income assistance services in compliance with ISC and Nation policies.
• Conduct client intakes, assessments, and case management plans.
• Support employment, education, and training pathways for clients.
• Maintain accurate records, monthly reporting, audits, and file documentation.

Client Support, Advocacy & Service Delivery

• Provide referrals to health, cultural, social, and community-based supports.
• Support crisis response, housing applications, and advocacy as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold trauma-informed service delivery.
• Provide equitable access to services for all community members; regular and effective communication required.

Lived and learned experience we are seeking
To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:

• Education or equivalent: Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field (equivalent experience considered).

• Skills grounded in lived experience: Knowledge of ISC Social Development policies and reporting requirements.

• Strong case management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

• Cultural grounding: Knowledge of Pacheedaht First Nation culture, history and local traditions.

• People & relationships: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills; skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution.

• Ability to manage difficult situations with empathy and professionalism.

• Indigenous experience: Indigenous lived experience and/or significant experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly valued.

• Certifications & Checks: Valid BC driver’s licence (Class 5; Class 4 preferred) with a clear driver’s abstract.

• Clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, as required.
